CALLING ALL YOUNG COMPOSERS 

YRMTA Yukon Student Composer Competition 2024

 

 

The YRMTA Yukon Student Composer Competition 2024 is now accepting entries.

This competition invites original compositions for any instrument, voice or combinations of voices and instruments in the following categories:

8 years and under

11 years and under

15 years and under

19 years and under

 

To enter:

1. Send an electronic copy of the written music to Andrea McColeman.  Please accompany this with an e-mail telling us the young composer’s name, age and the name of your teacher/mentor as well as parent’s phone number and e-mail. (Please do not include the student composer’s name on the written music).

2. If possible please also send a recording of the piece – a phone voice memo quality or midi recording is fine. 

3. You may also include a short paragraph talking about your piece or a picture that tells the story of the music.

Deadline to enter is Friday April 5.

Winners will be notified at the end of April. 

There will be prizes!!

YRMTA Young Composer’s Competition 

Calling Young Composers!


If you were preparing a composition for Rotary Music Festival, or if you currently have a composition in the works, there is still a forum to show it off! 
The YRMTA Young Composer’s Competition is open to students 19 years of age and under, currently studying music with a teacher who is a member of the YRMTA. 

To enter, submit an electronic copy of the music to Andrea McColeman  by May 8th. If possible please also send a recording – a phone voice memo quality or midi recording is fine. If the piece is over 3 pages long a recording is required.  

Please also include your your name, age, and the name of your teacher as well as your (or your parents) phone number and e-mail. You may also include a short paragraph talking about your piece or a picture that tells the story of the music.

Pieces will be adjudicated by Canadian composer Christine Donkin and the winners announced May 22. 

The winners will be eligible to enter the Canada-wide CFMTA  Student Composer Competition
